Tangipahoa Parish School System's

Common Core Academy

A series of professional development sessions designed to provide information to teachers in the Tangipahoa Parish School System about the new Common Core State Standards and their implementation in Louisiana and Tangipahoa Parish.  These sessions are being developed by the TPSS Common Core Transition Team. 

Teachers will receive CLUs for attending. 

The following sessions are available for teachers to register for on the PD Master Calendar. Locations will vary.  Check the Master Calendar for location of training.

English Language Arts

Common Core State Standards for ELA Teachers, Grades 9-12

This workshop is designed to give high school English teachers an overview of the Common Core State Standards. Workshop participants will become familiar with the standards, learn how to use crosswalk documents prepared by the State to "walk through" the transition from Louisiana standards to the CCSS, and take a brief look at next generation assessments.

Common Core State Standards for Middle School ELA Teachers, Grades 6-8
 
This workshop is designed to give 6th-8th grade Reading and English teachers an overview of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Workshop participants will become familiar with the standards, learn how to use crosswalk documents prepared by the State to transition from Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum to the CCSS, and take a brief look at next generation assessments.
